Special Edition: Rawle & Henderson LLP Announces Firm Expansion

Rawle & Henderson LLP announces it has added three new offices:

Midtown Manhattan, New York
Jersey City, New Jersey
New Haven, Connecticut

As part of this expansion, six attorneys have joined the firm from the New York City-based law firm Spiegel Leffler. Rawle & Henderson LLP is pleased to announce the addition of:

Our new attorneys have extensive experience in dental malpractice, medical malpractice, nursing home defense, business and contract law, motor vehicle liability, general liability, municipal liability, construction and labor law, immigration law and appellate practice. The transactions associated with this expansion were handled by Rawle & Henderson LLP’s General Counsel David Ira Rosenbaum with assistance from local New York attorneys working with him.

Rawle & Henderson’s new office in Midtown Manhattan is at 135 West 29th Street, adding to our two other New York State offices at 14 Wall Street in New York City and 170 Old Country Road in Mineola (Long Island).

Our new office in New Jersey is at 2500 Plaza 5, 25th Floor, Jersey City, adding to our current office at 401 Route 73 North, Suite 200, in Marlton.

The firm’s New Haven office at 157 Church Street, 19th Floor, is the first office Rawle & Henderson has opened in Connecticut.

William S. Spiegel is a partner in our Midtown Manhattan, Jersey City and New Haven offices. He represents healthcare providers in all medical specialty fields. He is a former Assistant Corporation Counsel to the City of New York – Medical Malpractice Division. He is a trial attorney with multiple verdicts in medical and dental malpractice, nursing home negligence and general liability actions. He has obtained defendants’ verdicts in high-exposure trials in Bronx County, Kings County, Queens County, Richmond County and New York County. Mr. Spiegel also represents physicians before the Office of Professional Medical Conduct and dentists before the Office of Professional Discipline. He has additional experience defending nurses, chiropractors, optometrists, psychiatrists, speech therapists, physical therapists, audiologists, massage therapists and medical clinics. He has successfully argued several appeals before the First and Second Departments. He also practices in the areas of premises liability, product liability, business and contract law and municipal liability. He is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, and also the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.  Mr. Spiegel has been selected as a New York Super Lawyer every year since 2013 and is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.

Marc R. Leffler is a partner in our Midtown Manhattan and New Haven offices. He practiced Oral Surgery in New York City from 1986-1997. In addition to being a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Leffler is a seasoned trial attorney with a strong record of success at trial and as an appellate advocate. Since 1998, he has practiced law in the areas of dental and medical malpractice. He has tried many cases to verdict and has attained many significant verdicts on behalf of his clients. He also practices in the areas of premises liability, product liability and business and contract law. He is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut, and also the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Dr. Leffler has been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell with a rating of AV Preeminent and has been chosen as a New York Super Lawyer every year since 2015.

Robyn S. Goldfarb is a partner in our Midtown Manhattan and Jersey City offices. She focuses her practice on medical and dental malpractice litigation and has been defending professionals for over 12 years, bringing a total of over 20 years of litigation experience to the firm. She has handled all phases of complex, high-exposure medical and dental malpractice litigation on behalf of hospitals, doctors and dentists throughout the New York City and surrounding areas. She has extensive mediation and motion practice experience. Ms. Goldfarb also practices in the areas of nursing home defense and municipal liability. She is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Elisa R. Karnis is Of Counsel to the Firm in our Midtown Manhattan and New Haven offices. She has over 10 years of litigation experience in the areas of dental and medical malpractice, architect and engineering malpractice and personal injury litigation. She began her career as a claims trainee at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. Ms. Karnis worked for several major insurance carriers before, during and after law school, as a senior claims representative and claims manager. She has wide-ranging claims handling and claims management experience in the areas of general liability, automobile liability and construction law. She also practices in the areas of premises liability, product liability and appellate litigation. She is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut.

Justine K. Woods is an associate in our Midtown Manhattan office. She has broad experience in medical and dental malpractice. She is highly skilled in motion practice, accomplishing dismissal on behalf of a number of clients. She handles all pre-trial phases of complex, high-exposure medical and dental malpractice litigation with a strong understanding of both the legal and medical issues involved. She also practices in the area of product liability defense. Ms. Woods was awarded the Henry R. Berger Award for excellence in the field of tort law for her achievements while attending the George Washington University Law School. She is admitted to practice in New York.

Michael D. Ashton is an associate in our Midtown Manhattan and Jersey City offices. He went into solo practice after law school and found a niche representing medical professionals throughout New York City. Mr. Ashton has extensive negotiation experience in the purchase and sale of businesses and business assets, the organization of professional entities and the arrangement of partnerships and joint ventures. He also has litigation experience in actions to collect payment, contract and partnership disputes and causes of action for business torts in the Small Claims, City Civil and Supreme Courts of New York and New Jersey. In addition to practicing law, Michael has also consulted businesses of all sizes. He served as general counsel to a network of dental offices, and as an advisor to multiple start-ups. Our Midtown Manhattan office is located at 135 West 29th Street, Suite 801, New York, NY 10001. We are in the Haymarket Building, between 6th and 7th Aves., in Manhattan (Chelsea). We are conveniently located near public transportation, Penn Station and Herald Square. Multiple subway lines are available to our office, including the 1, 2, 3, B, D, F, M, N, Q and R trains.

Jersey City

Our Jersey City office is located at 2500 Plaza 5, 25th Floor, Jersey City, NJ 07311. We are in the Harborside Financial Center Plaza 5 Building at the corner of Pearl Street and Greene Street. Entrance to the parking garage is on the corner of Pearl Street and Greene Street.  We are easily accessible from the New Jersey Turnpike (North or South), the Holland Tunnel and the Lincoln Tunnel.

New Haven, Connecticut

Our New Haven, Connecticut office is located at 57 Church St., 19th Floor, New Haven, CT 06510. We are in the Connecticut Financial Center Building next to the New Haven City Hall. We are easily accessible from New York or I-95 Northbound, from Rhode Island or those traveling South on I-95, and from Hartford or those traveling South on I-91. Underground or outdoor parking is available nearby.
