Philadelphia PA (July 19, 2023) – Zachary Rubinich, a partner in Rawle’s Philadelphia office, presented a national legal education webinar for Lorman Education Services on July 19, 2023. The topic was Workers’ Compensation and Mental Health Claims. He has been a Lorman Education faculty member since 2014.

Mr. Rubinich discussed the law and strategies for defense of mental health cases in the workers’ compensation system. He reviewed the types of psychological injuries, benefits available under state statutes, barriers to recovery, and legal burdens of proof.

Mr. Rubinich explained the roles of various stakeholders including the claims adjuster, insurance professional, employer risk manager, nurse case manager and attorney. He also discussed numerous evidentiary issues, including the medical evaluation processes, the use of medical experts, social media and surveillance factors, the return-to-work situations with workplace accommodations, as well as settlement negotiation considerations.
