William Spiegel, a partner at Rawle & Henderson, will be presenting a lecture on “Malpractice, Disciplinary Proceedings and Risk Management” to the post graduate specialty residents of the New York University School of Dentistry on October 28, 2021. The post-graduate program at NYU College of Dentistry offers proficiency in major areas of clinical study including Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: 6-year Integrated MD Program, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: 4-year Certificate Program, Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics and Prosthodontics.
The lecture will include discussions about what constitutes medical and dental malpractice in New York and the application of the statute of limitations including when the statute of limitations has been tolled. William will also be providing detailed analysis on contentious issues like informed consent. He will cover the elements for a claim of lack of informed consent, defense to these types of actions and handling the lack of informed consent claims at trial.
Finally, William will also be providing a general overview of lawsuits and the professional disciplinary process, as well as discussions about the importance for electronic records and audit trails and how they come into play in lawsuits and disciplinary actions. Fellow partner at Rawle & Henderson, Maryanne Kolenvosky, will also participate in this lecture and discussion.
William Spiegel is a partner and trial lawyer in Rawle & Henderson LLP’s New York office. He represents healthcare providers in virtually all medical specialty fields. Maryanne Kolenovsky is a partner in Rawle & Henderson LLP’s Long Island and Manhattan offices. She represents health care providers in all medical, dental and other specialty fields.
