Wilmington, DE (June 24, 2025) – Rawle & Henderson partner Loreto (Larry) P. Rufo has been honored by the Superior Court of the State of Delaware as a lifelong Friend of the Court, in recognition of his outstanding coordination and management of thousands of toxic tort claims. He is only one of six Delaware attorneys to have received this award during the last 30 years.

The Delaware Superior Court appointed Mr. Rufo as the Defense Coordinating Counsel and Defense Medical Coordinator in Delaware asbestos litigation in 2002, which are positions that he still holds today. In that capacity, Mr. Rufo oversees all aspects of the defense in asbestos litigation including managing the day-to-day operations and medical aspects of defending Delaware asbestos litigation. Mr. Rufo’s work ensures efficiency in the management of large-scale asbestos litigation.

In their written proclamation, the Judges of the Superior Court acknowledged “the high level of professionalism, dedication and expertise consistently demonstrated by Mr. Rufo… [and] his exceptional efforts, which greatly assisted the Court and the administration of justice.”

“On behalf of the Executive Committee and personally, I am very proud of Larry’s professionalism and leadership,” said John C. McMeekin. “This is a well-deserved recognition for him and his years of legal work.”

“It feels a little weird to be awarded for doing something you love to do” said Rufo.   “I am as honored to receive this award as I have been privileged to serve the Court”
