Jennifer Seme Will See You in San Diego Next Week, at the 2023 Women in Litigation Conference!

Published on October 30, 2023

Philadelphia, PA (October 25, 2023) – Jennifer L. Seme, a member of Rawle & Henderson’s products and construction liability practice groups, will attend the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Litigation’s 2023 Women in Litigation Conference in San Diego from November 1–3.

The Women in Litigation Conference brings together five separate committees within the Section of Litigation, all of which are designed to empower, educate and elevate women in the legal profession.  Jennifer started attending Women in Products Liability conferences in 2013 which later lead to her attendance at the Women in Litigation conferences.  Jennifer describes this conference as a “unique opportunity to meet women from across the country, discuss best practices for overcoming the hurdles women face in the profession, expand our networks for business development, and learn about recent developments in our respective areas of practice.”

Although women have been graduating from law school at a rate equal to men for more than two decades, the percentage of women equity partners has barely moved during that same time period.  “The statics bear out the disparity, but this conference affords an opportunity to look beyond the numbers and learn from those who blazed the trail,” said Jennifer. “I know how lucky I am to be affiliated with a law firm dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion.  By sharing our collective experiences, we provide context for the statistics and help the next generation avoid the pitfalls that stalled our progression.  This conference invigorates our passion not only for the law, but for building a more inclusive practice, legal system, and community.”

The Women in Litigation conference includes sessions on enhancing trial skills, leading high-performance teams, career advancement, pay equity, effective client pitches, and best practices for networking to build lasting relationships, mental health and wellness, and substantive legal topics of the day.  And of course, there will be lots of opportunities to connect with colleagues old and new!

“I’m excited about mentoring first time attendees this year, to ensure that they get the most out of this experience,” said Jennifer. “We all have an obligation to reach back and pull up the next generation of women in the law, and I take that obligation seriously.”

Jennifer has been an active member and leader in the ABA since her law school days. As a young lawyer, Jennifer worked with the ABA’s Young Lawyers Division.  For nearly a decade, Jennifer has served in various leadership roles with the ABA’s Section of Litigation. She also serves as a leader within the ABA’s Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS).  She currently serves as Chair of the Toxic Tort & Environmental Law Committee for TIPS and as Co-Chair of the Trial Practice & Evidence Committee of the Section of Litigation.
