Patrice S. O’Brien is a Partner with Rawle & Henderson, and resides in the firm’s Philadelphia office. She is a civil trial lawyer whose practice includes matters of medical malpractice, products liability, catastrophic loss and premises liability.

Ms. O’Brien defends health care providers including physicians, nurses, hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation hospitals, staffing companies and others. She has tried numerous cases in the courts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Ms. O’Brien has also served as a Hearing Committee member for the Disciplinary Board of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court since July of 2019.

Ms. O’Brien has been a leading advocate in the community and within the firm, on finding a cure for breast cancer.  In 2008, Ms. O’Brien and other members of the firm created a team to participate in the annual Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure.   For 10 years she was the team captain, and helped raise over $75,000 for breast cancer research.

In addition, Ms. O’Brien served for five years as a consumer reviewer for the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs’ (CDMRP), Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP).  As a consumer reviewer she was a full voting member, along with prominent scientists, at meetings to help determine how the millions of dollars appropriated by Congress was to be spent on breast cancer research.

In December of 2022, based on her continued dedication to volunteer work in the community, the firm awarded Ms. O’Brien the first William Rawle Award for Public Service.  Named for the firm’s founder William Rawle, whose passion for community service is alive and well in Rawle & Henderson to this day, this annual award recognizes the outstanding volunteer work of the firm’s attorneys and staff.
