Dr. Marc R. Leffler practiced Oral Surgery in New York City, in private practice and academic settings, from 1986-1997. He maintained attending privileges at Bellevue Hospital Center, Beth Israel Medical Center, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, St. Clare’s Hospital, and St. Barnabas Hospital, and had faculty appointments at New York University College of Dentistry, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. More recently, he has lectured on an annual basis to dental students at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and the New York University College of Dentistry, at the national meeting of the American College of Legal Medicine, and to dental study groups, on the subject of risk management. Dr. Leffler has published on the topics of orthognathic surgery, out-patient general anesthesia in dentistry, endosseous implants, and pre-prosthetic surgery. He has performed research on pre-malignant oral lesions and allergic responses to dental materials.
In addition to being a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Marc is a seasoned trial attorney with a strong record of success at trial and as an appellate advocate. He is a partner in Rawle & Henderson LLP’s Midtown Manhattan and New Haven offices. Since 1998, Dr. Leffler has practiced law in the areas of dental and medical malpractice. He has tried many cases to verdict and has attained many significant verdicts on behalf of his clients. He also practices in the areas of premises liability, product liability and business and contract law. Dr. Leffler has been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell with a rating of AV Preeminent and has been chosen as a New York Super Lawyer every year since 2015.
He is admitted to practice in New York (1998) and Connecticut (1998), and also the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York (1998).
Marc earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from New York Law School in 1997. He was a Law Review Member and Editor from 1995-1997. He earned his D.D.S. with Honors from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1982. He earned his B.A. in Biology, magna cum laude, from Hofstra University.
Marc is a Flotilla Staff Officer for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and a former member of the Committee on Veterans for the New York State Bar Association. In addition, he is a guide runner for Achilles International, assisting runners with disabilities, including blindness, autism, hearing deficits and other physical impairments.
Prior to joining Rawle & Henderson LLP, Marc was a founding attorney for a New York City-based firm focusing on medical and dental liability.
