Jennifer L. Seme is a Partner in Rawle & Henderson’s Philadelphia office whose practice includes matters of Toxic Torts, Products Liability, and Construction Litigation.

Ms. Seme represents manufacturers and suppliers in breach of contract matters, warranty claims and products liability. Her product liability cases include defending manufacturers of consumer goods and industrial products. She has successfully defended clients in arbitrations involving personal injuries and breaches of contract, with more than half of those matters resulting in defense awards. Notably, Ms. Seme obtained a judgment during a bench trial for a reinsurer on issues of first impression in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.

After graduating law school, Ms. Seme served in the legal department of a major insurance company managing large loss and products liability claims. She served as a law clerk Judge Ronald Suster in the Court of Common Pleas in Cuyahoga County, OH. Prior to joining Rawle, Ms. Seme was a successful product liability attorney with two Philadelphia law firms, where she developed successful defense strategies in products liability matter.

Ms. Seme was recognized by The Legal Intelligencer as a “Lawyer on the Fast Track” 2015 and by Thomson Reuters as a Super Lawyer Rising Star 2015-2016 in Products Defense. The First Judicial District of Pennsylvania acknowledged her commitment to pro bono service by including Ms. Seme on their Pro Bono Roll of Honor for her work with the Homeless Advocacy Project and the Support Center for Child Advocates from 2009 through 2018.

Ms. Seme has a lengthy record of leadership in volunteer organizations, including the American Bar Association, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Philadelphia Bar Association.  Ms. Seme is a long standing member and leader in the American Bar Association (ABA). She started as a delegate to the ABA Young Lawyers Division Assembly in 2003.  She became the Chair of the Young Lawyers for the Cleveland Metro Bar in 2006.

From 2016 – 2020 Ms. Seme served as the Philadelphia Regional Co-Chair of the ABA’s Litigation Section’s Judicial Intern Opportunity Program (JIOP). JIOP is a summer program offering minority law students the opportunity to extern for state and federal judges with compensation funded through the program. Ms. Seme organized and spoke at the orientation program each summer, and raised money to support the placements.  In 2020, Ms. Seme was nominated to serve as Co-Chair of the Trial Practice and Evidence Committee of the Section of Litigation, a position she still holds.  She is a frequent speaker on products liability, toxic torts, trial practice, and diversity issues.

In 2022, Ms. Seme joined the ABA’s Tort Trials & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS), and quickly moved to leadership in the Committees.  She was Vice Chair of the Toxic Tort & Environmental Law Committee in 2022 and rose to Chair in 2023.
