Akbar A. Asharia is an associate based in the Firm’s downtown Manhattan office and is admitted to practice in the States of New York and New Jersey as well as the U.S. Southern and Eastern District Courts in New York. Akbar concentrates his practice in the areas of premises, products, and property liability defense, professional malpractice defense, as well as general commercial litigation. He is also a certified mediator who has resolved several personal and small business disputes, and represents U.S. asylum seekers in a pro bono capacity. Prior to joining the Firm, he practiced in the areas of mortgage-backed securities and antitrust litigation.
Akbar received his Juris Doctorate from the SMU Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas in 2006 and practiced mass tort defense and general commercial litigation for several years in Texas before moving to New York in 2011. He earned his B. Sc. in Biopsychology from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in 2003. He was born and raised in Pakistan and graduated from The Karachi Grammar School in 1999 before moving to the United States.
